For the past few years, I've been taking part in the 100 Day Project. This free, global art initiative happens online, bringing together thousands of people worldwide who commit to creating something every day for 100 days.
The idea is straightforward: pick a creative project, work on it daily for 100 days, and share your journey on social media using the hashtag #The100DayProject.
I treat this project as a daily warm-up to kickstart my creativity and get into the 'zone' for drawing. Just like athletes warm up before a game, I find it incredibly helpful to have a warm-up routine before diving into my work. Once I'm in the zone, my pencil (or brush) flows more freely, and I work more efficiently.
Each year, I select a theme that keeps me focused yet allows for flexibility. This year, I chose ‘Song Lyrics’ and illustrated some iconic lines from a variety of styles and genres.
Here are a few of my favorites from this year's project.
Sympathy for the Devil by The Rolling Stones
Autumn Leaves by Edith Piaf
The 100 Day Project is open to everyone, and sharing your progress publicly keeps you accountable. Plus, it’s a great way to connect with other creatives who offer support and encouragement. Why not give it a go yourself?
Never Tear Us Apart by INXS
Copacabana (At the Copa) by Barry Manilow
I Started a Joke by The Bee Gees
Don't You Want Me by The Human League
